On a weekend which saw them make stops in both Livonia, Michigan, and Vernon Hills, Illinois, St. Louis CITY SC Academy teams posted a combined record of 4-1-0 in their latest round of MLS Next Flex action.

U-15s put up six goals, go undefeated in weekend matches

To kick off the weekend, the U-15s notched a 2-0 victory over Michigan Wolves, with midfielder Lorenzo Cornelius and forward Stone Marion each putting home a goal. The squad then traveled to Illinois for their Sunday match against FC United Soccer Club and picked up a deserved 4-0 win. Marion tallied two of these goals to bring his weekend total to three, while forward Chidube Nwanko put together a brace of his own.

U-16s come from behind to top FC United Soccer Club

The U-16s only played once this weekend, but there was no shortage of excitement in their match. Off the boots of midfielders Brandon Rolando and Gavin Weber and forward Nolan Burcke, the U-16s fought back after trailing for some time to earn a 3-2 victory.

U-17s split weekend matches

It was a pair of tough, low-scoring matches for the U-17s this weekend. In their Saturday game against Michigan Wolves, the boys were unable to find the back of the net, dropping the match by a score of 1-0. The team rebounded quickly, though, and a goal courtesy of midfielder Eddie Stewart would be all they needed to pick up a 1-0 victory over FC United Soccer Club on Sunday.

What’s Next?

The U-15s, U-16s and U-17s will all be back in MLS NEXT Flex action next week. All three teams will play Indiana Fire Academy at Washington University Orthopedics High Performance Center on Saturday, March 25. The U-16s will then head out to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for an away match in League play against Midwest United FC on Sunday, March 26.
